Information about HUNGARY
Hungary is a delightful country combining the best of Eastern European culture and architecture with Western luxury. Indeed, its capital is often called the "Paris of Eastern Europe". This culture is best showcased at the Budapest Spring Festival in March, and at Busójárás, the nation"s top carnival. Ethnic groups who have settled here over the centuries have been able to maintain their traditions and enrich and enhance the Hungarian culture too. This is seen especially in the culinary traditions and the varying architectural and artistic styles. Hungarian folk culture is among the most artistic in Europe, with embroidery, pottery, ceiling and wall painting, wood or bone carvings and traditional music all remaining popular. Hungary is situated in a basin between the Carpathian mountains, where the earth"s crust is particularly thin, and it is this phenomenon that allows thermal waters to rise. There are more than 1000 hot springs, and wherever you go in the country you will find a place to enjoy these healing waters. Hungary has long been a progressive country, even under communism, and they has become fully integrated with Europe since 2004.
